Walking on Water
Hey, it beats walking the plank! Find your feet and your courage to answer Jesus as he calls out his invitation to swing your legs over the side, stand up, and take a walk with him on the waters of faith.

This week, and in the coming weeks, the Church offers us the feast days of many saints, angels, and holy people: St. Andrew Kim and the Korean Martyrs, St. Vicent de Paul, the Archangels, the Guardian Angels, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta …. It is a rich time for remembering holiness.

But even more, it is a rich time for enlivening holiness! Pauline Books & Media recently published a two-volume collection of stories of the saints entitled Saints Alive! The Faith Proclaimed and Saints Alive! The Gospel Witnessed. These titles have made me reflect that we don’t remember the saints just for the sake of remembering them. We remember them in order to awaken and re-awaken our own call to sanctity and holiness.

When we remember in this way, “Saints Alive” becomes more than an expression. The saints that we remember come alive. We become more aware of the holy ones of the Church and world today. And we grow in our own path toward sainthood.

May you have a beautiful journey with the saints! “To the saints in Christ Jesus … grace to you and peace” (Phil 1:1).

The Saints Alive! feature not just mini-narrative biographies, but readers' guides for personal or group reflection and discussion. While published under our Adult line, the Saints Alive! collection could be used with high-school Confirmation groups Who knows...maybe your students will be so inspired by these lives, they'll have a hard time picking a patron saint!

For younger readers, you can check out our kids' books on the saints.
