Oh, When the Saints …
Oh, When the Saints …

Oh, how I want to be in that number, when the saints come marching in! And boy, are they marching in! Just eight days ago, Pope Benedict XVI canonized seven new saints, including Saint Kateri Tekakwitha and Saint Marianne Cope. Now, as we prepare to celebrate the Feast of All Saints on November 1, Pauline Kids is proud to introduce a brand-new compilation of saints for kids ages 5–8:

My First Book of Saints

Some features of this book: My First Book of Saints combines all the saints included in the Little Book of Saints Volumes 1–6 in one lovely hardback edition. Each of the sixty-two featured saints and blesseds has a beautiful illustration, a brief biography, and a summary of important information like birth, death, feast day, and country. Saints from all over the world are represented, including many well-known and beloved saints, as well as many lesser-known saints.

Ideas for using this book: Because of the number and variety of saints included, and because of the detailed illustrations, this book is a great resource for helping children to dress up as saints for All Saints’ Day. It could also be used as an aid in learning about the universal Church, since so many saints from different parts of the world are included. Its simple language makes it possible for kids who are learning to read to begin discovering the saints on their own.

I get excited about introducing kids to the saints, because kids themselves often grow very enthusiastic when learning about the saints. Their enthusiasm can encourage all of us who work with children as we continue to bring inspiring stories of holy people into kids’ lives.

All you holy men and women, pray for us!
